DIGITAL HUMANITIES
In both research and teaching, I pursue an interdisciplinary approach to craft historical narratives that are immersive, accessible, and grounded in questions about the production and preservation of the past. My interests in Digital Humanities are closely connected with the fields of Cultural Heritage Informatics and Ethnohistory—both of which integrate the methods and theories of cultural anthropology to construct a deeper relationship between culture, history, and technology.
I hold a graduate certificate in Digital Humanities from Michigan State University and specialize in data and narrative mapping, digital spatial history, and digital pedagogy. In my current role as the Andrew W. Mellon Digital Humanities Postdoctoral Fellow at Knox College, I am working on a new initiative called the “Abolition for All Time” Humanities Lab which brings together faculty, staff, and students to re-examine the college’s legacy of abolition through a lens of innovative, creative, and digital methods. I work closely with instructors and students on the process of crafting digital projects that integrate new skills and technology in the classroom.
Prior to joining Knox College, I was a graduate assistant in the Lab for the Education and Advancement in Digital Research (LEADR) at Michigan State University. In LEADR, I worked with history and anthropology courses pursuing digital projects as part of their traditional coursework. A full list of courses and digital tools can be found below.

Mapping the Upper Missouri: Visualizing Negotiation, Diplomacy, and Culture on the Northern Plains, 1801-1853
Visit: mappingtheuppermissouri.com

Mapping the Upper Missouri is a geospatial history of the fur trade, intercultural exchange, and diplomacy in the upper Missouri River region from 1801 to 1853. This project emphasizes sources of visual culture—maps, art, and print— to illustrate differing perceptions and historical experiences in the upper Missouri at its peak of the fur trade. This project was supported by the Cultural Heritage Informatics initiative at Michigan State University.
